Cranborne Garden Centre (UPDATED)

(Easter Sunday)   PLEASE DO NOT JOIN THE RIDE IF YOU HAVE COVID SYMPTOMS OR HAVE TESTED POSITIVE

(ref SU 054 132)

The club has ridden from the Cranborne Garden Centre quite a few times, but pre-covid we had decided to give a different venue in Cranborne a chance to extend a welcome to the club and the Sixpenny Handley Brewery was the chosen destination. When covid intervened the ride got shelved and try as we might, it has been difficult to get back on track with it. So nearly 3 years later than planned we have taken the decision to re-arrange the start point and revert to the Cranborne Garden Centre again. The management team have granted us permission to use the garden centre car park on the understanding that we park as far up the end of the car park as we can (on the grass area up the slope) to allow gardening shoppers the courtesy of being able to park near the retail outlet.

It would be polite for us to patronise the café facilities for our post-ride refreshments and put some cash through their tills as a way of thanking them for their permission to use the car park.

There is a slew of ancient tracks, Roman roads, long barrows and other early historical features in the area surrounding the Gussage villages to the west, whilst to the north is Pentridge Hill, more Roman roads, the Oxdrove and beyond that the hills and valleys of Cranborne Chase. All-in-all there are some good hills and intriguing tracks in all directions out of Cranborne so an interesting ride is assured.

Starting Point: ///lengthen.lease.spaces
Starting Time: 10:00 Sunday 17 April 2022
Post Ride Venue: The Garden Centre has a nice tea room but if it’s a pub you want, there are a couple of good ones in the middle of the town just a few hundred yards away.
