Fast Group ride - Sunday 2 August

Hi All,

I’ll be leading a Fast Group ride from Whiteparish starting at 10:00 and would welcome up to 5 other people to join me. Currently you must be a club member and spaces will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Please reply to this post if you want to join the ride.

We will meet just in front of the Church on the grass triangle (post code SP52SQ) . There are no parking restrictions on the road, so you can park anywhere. There is a Doctors surgery car park next to the Church as well. We have been told off for parking in there before, but that was the whole club, so while I don’t see an issue with 5 people parking in it, don’t hang around, which is why I am saying meet in front of the Church.

There is a pub in the village for a drink afterwards.

The ride is 25.5 miles with 2,052 feet of climbing. The climbs are spaced out, so you do get a chance to recover between them, but there are some big ones. There are plenty of opportunities to cut bits out if needed. I think it is a really nice ride.

We will start in Whiteparish and climb up over Dean Hill and come down near East Grimstead. Into Bentley wood, around the Winterslow villages and back into Bently wood via a different route. There is some good single track in there. Then a bit of a kick at the end, as we climb back up Dean Hill (a different route to the way down) and then a fast down hill road section back into the village which is a lot of fun.

Although it is a Fast Group ride, I am leading it, so the pace will not be ridiculous. So if you normally ride at the front of the Medium Group and can’t get a space in that group, then maybe give it a go. Although, it is quite a big ride.

With the high number of asymptomatic cases being reported it is important you have a face covering in the event of a puncture or mechanical to reduce the risk of infecting any rider who may assist you, similarly they must also wear a face covering to protect you.

A reminder of the rules/guidelines to ensure we stay Covid safe follows. Note club rides are available for people who self-regulate in order to abide by them, ride leaders will not be policing them but if you consistently breach them you may be asked to leave the ride. They are there for your safety and the safety of others.

• 2m spacing at all times before, during and after rides, extending to 4m if riding in front or behind someone.
• Each rider must carry a spare tube in case of a puncture or suitable kit if riding tubeless.
• Each rider must have disposable gloves and a face covering in case of having to attend to falls. Carrying hand sanitiser is also strongly recommended.
• Follow the ride leaders directions in case of a puncture/fall to ensure the minimum number of people are involved.

Thanks for your help with this.

Hi Tania

It will feel a bit backwards with you and Steve in the group, but it is probably about time. I hope you like it,

See you Sunday.

Sorry folks - this ride is now full.
