Swinley Forest

Swinley Forest is an area of Windsor Forest located between Bracknell and Bagshot to the west of the A322. Cycling is permitted on hard tracks and within a specific expert mountain bike area. It is a condition of cycling within Swinley Forest that you must hold a cycle permit if over 16 years of age. It is essential to comply with the requirements of English Nature. The ride will start from the car park at The Look Out Discovery Centre. The Discovery Centre building is where you buy your Day Permit although it is much easier to buy your permit in advance on the internet; just visit the Swinley Forest website. The Centre has toilets and a cafe that is open every day except Christmas and Boxing Day from 10am to 5pm. The Swinley Forest Map shows the boundaries of the areas available to ride. If you are not familiar with the land you can purchase this full colour detailed map from The Discovery Centre. The purpose built singletrack trails within the Expert Mountain Bike Area are not marked so we just find tracks and ride them; who needs a map?
